First, this person heads up three Christian Bible based groups, grades ranging 2 nd - 12 th grade. Programs meet on Monday and Tuesday evenings in the local school and include dinner, games, a group teaching time, and small group time. Additional programming responsibilities include a basketball ministry for teenagers in the community along with High School Education assistance, shepherding youths through High School towards college or career utilizing and building upon the established educational tools for youth engagement.Urban Impact serves a particular community (P.T. Barnum) on the West End of Bridgeport, CT impacting over 300 children annually. Applicants preferably have first-hand experience with the needs and goals of the community of the inner-city and can effectively communicate and navigate the needs of the community being a resource for those we serve. Applicants with Youth Leadership experience required, a college degree preferred for this full-time position, Spanish speaking a plus.Details:

  • Have strong skills, passion, and experience with teaching the youth biblical application through engaging and relevant lessons.
    • Teaching grades 2-12
      • Basketball Ministry - 8-12 graders
      • Primetime 2-7 graders
      • Revolution 8-12 graders
      • As lead shepherd through UI programs, the Youth Ministry Development Leader (YMDL) will train and lead volunteers in their mentoring opportunities and be the chief deliverer of the Bible lessons in programs. Messages are to be age appropriate and thematic throughout the year to teach towards a sound Christian foundation.
      • Lead and teach at the Basketball program. This role includes recruiting youth to attend, run drills and the open recreation time and deliver short messages. It also includes recruiting volunteers to help with mentoring and outsight activities for the kids in the program.
      • Primetime, Primetime Jr., and Revolution Program - Run the three age related programs for Christian youth groups.
      • Next Steps program involves shepherding kids through their High School years, specifically engaging them in the 8th grade to invigorate their self-drive towards academic success. The program involves utilizing online programs meant to help students identify their strengths while working on potential weak areas to promote High School graduation and college / career engagement post High School.
      • Other times will be spent meeting with staff, high schoolers for Next Steps youth development and individual mentoring, supporter, and volunteer development.
      • Typical weekly activities:
        • Prime Time / Primetime Jr. - 1 night of Christian Youth Group
        • Revolution - 1 night of Christian Youth Group
        • HOOPs - 1 night Basketball program with Christian message
        • Next Steps - consistent mentoring of 8 th -12 th grade students tracking and encouraging the advancement of education towards a post H.S. path.
        • High School administration engagement for Next Step students ? Identify / meet with local serving partners to engage additional volunteers.
        • Database management for students for grant purposes on activities performed. ? Identify local outings for programs when school closed.
        • Summer Programming
          • Week of Hope (VBS) - 1 week summer camp in the community
          • Camp Spofford - 1 week offsite summer camp for 20 students in New Hampshire
          • Summer Enrichment - 2 nights a week for six week programming
          • Outings - coordinate offsite events through Primetime during nights the school is closed
          • Career Tracking - aide in the coordination and growth of program to develop core areas needed by youth for success
          • Financial Management:
            • Work within established budgets for the programs
            • Monitor the spend throughout the year to ensure program budget is being maintained
            • Coordinate with the Executive Director regarding incoming funds - trends and needs
            • Build upon the Next Steps program for deeper sustainability, tracking, and impact for Urban Impact students working with the Executive Director
              • Report strategic opportunities for vetting and build out if viableTime Requirement / report:
                • 35-40 hours a week approximately
                • Requirement to work evenings many times interacting within programs from approximately 5 pm - 8 pm
