OVERVIEW:YNHHS is recruiting a highly organized and enthusiastic
Major Gifts Officer for the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation who can
work independently while demonstrating initiative and
innovation.Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer of
YNHHS, this position will be responsible for building, maintaining,
and leading a major gift program focused on a prospect pool of 125
to 150 individuals. Duties include developing and implementing
successful strategies for the identification, cultivation,
solicitation, and stewardship of prospects to achieve overall
fundraising goals. The Major Gifts Officer works closely with the
Bridgeport Hospital Foundation by building a pipeline of key
stakeholders to assist in driving revenue. He/She also participates
as a member of the joint Bridgeport and Yale New Haven Development
team. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In collaboration with colleagues, establishes annual and
long-term fundraising priorities and goals. Responsible for meeting
agreed upon goals.
- Manage prospect portfolio and apply moves management to 125-150
donors in support of the individual Major Gifts goal for the
Foundation.
- Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle:
- Initiate contacts with potential major gift donors.
- Develop appropriate cultivation strategies, including working
with volunteers, physicians, and organizational Leadership.
- Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion
toward solicitation and closure.
- Make solicitations when appropriate.
- Maintain stewardship contacts with donors.
- Implement programs as required, in partnership with the Major
Gift team.
- Develop and disseminate donor correspondence, write and/or
assist in the design, production, and distribution of letters,
solicitation proposals, web pages, case statements, and other
fundraising materials as appropriate.
- Attend Foundation and community sponsored events as
required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: ---
Bachelor's degree required. Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a development/fundraising
position. Preferential consideration will be given to candidates
with a history working in a healthcare philanthropy role.
- Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and
utilize strategies for fundraising success, including solicitation
of $100,000+ commitments.
- Experience working with major gift giving, capital and
comprehensive campaigns, planned and annual giving.
- Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage
multi-functional or diverse areas.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
along with a demonstrated record of successful relationship
building and solicitation.
- High energy, creativity, and ability to inspire performance and
commitment from key partners to achieve goals and
objectives.Licensure: --- Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE)
preferred. Other/Special Skills:
- Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of
building donor relationships and closing gifts at major gift
levels.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, clinical and
administrative leadership, board members, donors, and
volunteers.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications.
- Ability to identify new opportunities for revenue
generation.
- Demonstrated ability to establish, build relationships and be
in social settings with individual high-net worth donors, trustees
of family foundations, and individuals involved with their estate
planning.
- Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a fast paced,
