Job Description:

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the American Disability Act (ADA).Shall diagnose and treat all patients presenting for care with malfunctions of the teeth and gums related to oral structures.Examines patients to determine nature of condition, utilizing x-rays, dental instruments and other diagnostic tools.Provides preventive dental services to patients.Responsible for all follow-up care and referrals required for the patients receiving dental services.Follows all guidelines outlined in the Dental Infection Control Protocol Book and will participate in any SWCHC Infection Control Committee meeting as required.Serves as a consultant to all Dental Department staff; including faculty and students of the University of Bridgeport FONES School of Dental Hygiene while they are on clinical rotation at SWCHCFollows procedures and policies outlined in the Dental Department's Standards of Clinical Practice Book.Participates in staff meetings; quality assurance programs; case conferences and all meetings as required.Other related duties as assigned.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This position requires the manual dexterity sufficient to operate phones, computers and other office equipment. The position requires the physical ability to kneel, bend and perform light lifting. This person must have the ability to write and speak clearly using the English language to convey information and be able to hear at normal speaking levels both in person and over the telephone. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the working conditions are good with little or no exposure to extremes in health, safety hazards and/or hazardous materials. This person must have the ability to travel as required to work with staff.
