This position is responsible for assisting in the management of the
credit departments daily functions in the absence of the Credit VP
and for the training of less experienced credit underwriters.
Responsible for performing preliminary screening, advisement,
underwriting and approving larger and the most complex loan and
lease requests. This position advises on deal size and structure
based on customer strength and collateral coverage.
Trains and advises less experienced credit underwriters. Delegates
underwriting responsibilities to junior staff and reviews for
accuracy. Assist in managing the credit departments daily functions
in the absence of the Credit VP(s). Coaches, develops and inspires
staff to maximize their potential.
Manages and facilitates the reporting requirements to PUB and
Senior Management with other members of the credit department.
Performs initial cursory review of all transactions submitted for
approval and assigns to appropriate credit underwriter. Manages
credit process to ensure that transactions are underwritten
thoroughly and in a timely manner and that internal policies and
procedures are adhered to. Reviews and issues final approval within
lending authority, on all creditworthy transactions submitted by
Works on the most complex and non-traditional loans and
transactions with the greatest risks/financial exposure to the
organization. Performs spreads of financial statements, prepares
debt service overlays, initiates appraisals, obtains references and
checks related names to ensure regulatory compliance.
Analyzes highly complex financial information, including trends,
cash flow and key risks, collateral and other related information.
Obtains additional information as needed as well as assisting more
junior underwriters in performing this responsibility. Prepares
written credit presentations. Underwrites, approves and recommends
transactions for final approval sign off.
Facilitates the preparation of loan documents for approved deals
with sales and documentation representatives. Leads authorized
signing authorities in negotiating standard documents with
customers and their attorneys as needed. Reviews final
documentation to ensure compliance with approved structure.
Prepares and maintains files on all equipment vendors and approved
appraisers and brokers. Maintains database file on all equipment
appraisals completed for the area.
Utilizes expertise of leasing concepts and related policies,
procedures and techniques to provide feedback and recommendations
to sales representatives.
Provides Portfolio Administration area with approved presentations
to ensure ongoing covenant compliance. Identifies material adverse
changes and provides information and advice to the appropriate
Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk
controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory
standards, requirements, and policies.
College degree or equivalent work experience required.
5-8 years relevant experience.

Excellent PC skills including word processing, spreadsheets and
standard industry software. Ability to learn to use specific
programs as required.
Ability to manage multiple priorities for self and team members
within strict timeframes.
Ability to lead and work with a team.
