Job Description Our Client is seeking an experienced Component Design Engineer with experience in the development of highly complex products in a medical device and technology environment. You will participate in the design, development, and testing with an emphasis on high-power analog circuits. You will work toward developing world-class medical products for X-Ray based, image-guided surgery. Position: Component Design Engineer Location: Greater Boston Massachusetts area Industry: Medical Technology / Medical Device Salary: Commensurate with experience Duties and Responsibilities: You will have technical expertise toward developing world-class medical products for X-Ray based, image-guided surgery. You will participate in the design, development, and testing with an emphasis on high-power analog circuits (> 1kW). You must be familiar with both schematic and layout tools for PCB (Mentor Graphics PADS and DxDesigner preferred) You will generate drawings and specification documentation with guidance from engineers and suppliers. You will actively manage lifecycles for components and subassemblies in existing products and communicate proactively to the team for sustaining activities. You will advise on component selection and sourcing for new projects. Education and Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering, (or closely related degree). 8 to 10 years of experience in the development of complex products in a medical device or closely related environment. Solid working knowledge of component, reliability, and IPC standards for PCB and PCBA design. Strong understanding and 5+ years of working with Agile PLM. Solid understanding of electrical, mechanical and OEM computer/network component datasheets. Support design teams with creating, releasing, and updating proper CAD drawings and specifications. Multi-sourcing/multi-supplier to reduce Sole Sourced components. Work closely with the Contract Manufacturer, Quality, Regulatory, Program Management and Supply Chain teams Maintain change control processes in the medical device domain. Component lifecycle management, including Obsolescence, Change Process, LTB Notices, New revs, erratas. Processes for PCBA manufacturing and assembly, and DFMA (design for manufacturability and assembly). Develop a plan for PLM part standardization and consolidation. Processes for creating and managing components and lifecycle that will keep and improve our database accuracy and efficiency. COTS part creation and lifecycle management and reporting, with working knowledge of Silicon Expert. Part data validation, duplicate parts, classification, overall database integrity.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong Microsoft Office and Visio skills.
