Hamilton-Madison House (HMH) is the leading provider of behavioral
health services for New York City’s Asian community and the second
largest provider in the country. HMH serves nearly 1,000 community
members through a comprehensive program model that understands and
incorporates the strengths of individual cultures and addresses the
stigma related to mental illness. Services range from psychological
services; personalized recovery-oriented services for individuals
with mental illness; recovery programming for addiction in six
languages and seven dialects; supportive housing for people with
mental health issues; and training and internship opportunities for
graduate students in social work, mental health counseling, and
psychology. HMH is collaborating with the Teacher’s College of
Columbia University to embark on a research project to implement
the Family Check-Up for Suicide Prevention (FCU-SP). The aim of the
study is to deliver the FCU-SP for Asian American adolescents (ages
11 to 17) at risk for suicide and their families. As part of the
team, you will deliver the FCU to Asian American at-risk youth and
their families at Hamilton-Madison House, a community based
behavioral health center located in the Chinatown and Lower East
Side neighborhoods of Manhattan. Responsibilities : Learn to
deliver the FCU-SP intervention to fidelity Administer suicide risk
assessments and the Self-Injurious Thoughts and Behaviors Interview
(SITBI) with youth Develop safety plans with youth Conduct
strengths-based family assessments Apply assessment results to form
a case conceptualization Provide feedback to families on strengths
and areas of improvement when it comes to parenting practices,
family relationships, and child behaviors as well as
recommendations for services Incorporate motivational strategies
into work with families Support parents/caregivers in the
development or enhancement of parenting skills through the Everyday
Parenting curriculum Receive weekly supervision related to the
FCU-SP project, and as required by Hamilton-Madison House Maintain
medical records documentation according to HMH and the Office of
Mental Health policies and procedures Comply with all agency, City,
State and Federal regulatory and compliance standards Minimum
Qualifications : Ph.D. or PsyD in clinical, counseling, or school
psychology preferred; master’s degree in mental health counseling,
social work, or related field also considered, with sufficient
training and experience, and sufficient supervisory support
Bilingual in English and Mandarin and/or Cantonese Experience
working with a high-risk youth population, administering risk
assessments and developing safety plans Training and experience in
the use of Motivational Interviewing strongly preferred
Compensation: $52,000 to $55,000 depending on education and
experience Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours/week Excellent
benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 15
vacation days, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, and 12 paid
