Job Description:

Provides direct patient care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse. Identifies and meets the patient's need in compliance with hospital policy and procedure.------------------MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:1. High school graduate and/or equivalent.2. Successful completion of qualified nurse's aide program.3. Must be willing to complete on-the-job training, in-service education and be able to carry specific job duties under the supervision of a registered nurse.4. Current BLS Certification-- OR1. Currently and actively enrolled in a Registered Nursing Program.2. Successfully completed course in fundamentals of nursing from a Nursing Program.3. Must supply transcript of nursing program grades, two letters of recommendations from nursing instructors, and verification of------------------------------ active enrollment in nursing program. High school graduate or equivalent.4. Current BLS Certification--------------------------------------------PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:1. Certification as a nurse's aide.2. Current enrollment in an LPN or RN program. Have successfully completed fundamentals in nursing able to supply a current transcript, verification of enrollment, and two letters of reference from professors.3. Current BLS CertificationEXPERIENCE:1. 1 year of inpatient patient care.2. Phlebotomy experience.3. Performs direct patient assignments, applying good judgment and knowledge of skills required within the realm of job responsibility 100 percent of the time.2. Reports all pertinent observations and concerns directly to the Registered Nurse 100 percent of the time.3. Demonstrates the ability to assist patients with ADL's 90 percent of the time.4. Documents on appropriate areas of the patient chart as per policy and procedure 100 percent of the time5. Assists with admission of the patient (i.e., completion of appropriate areas of admission forms, initial vital signs, orientation to room and unit, etc.) as directed by the Registered Nurse 100 percent of the time.6. Demonstrates competency in clinical and technical skills, completes skills check list, and correctly performs these skills daily as required 100 percent of the time.7. Performs clerical skills including use of computer, stamping and assembling charts, recording information, filing, etc. 100 percent of the time.----PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.1. --Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling are necessary body movements utilized in performing nursing duties throughout the work shift.2. Must be able to lift, move, and position patients of all weights, with varying amounts of assistance in a fair manner on a regular and recurring basis.3. --Must be able to read and write legibly in English.4. Hearing within normal range is required. (i.e.: to assess breath sounds, bowel sounds, apical pulse, monitors, etc.)5. Visual acuity must be within normal range.6. Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.------WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
