Posting Details Job Title Director Nutrition Institute Job Summary The Director for Nutrition Institute is the coordinating administrator for the Human Nutrition Institute, and reports directly to the Dean of Health Sciences. Working collaboratively with other CHS Directors and responsible for the effective delivery of Nutrition educational programs, consistent with the missions of the College of Health Sciences. The Director facilitates communication and efficiency in addressing the needs of the programs in the Nutrition Institute. To this end, the Director must be familiar with the accreditation standards in the Nutrition Institute Division. Department Human Nutrition Institute Reports To Dean of Health Sciences Classification Exempt Full Time or Part Time Full Time Hours Per Week Regular or Temporary Regular Number of Months 12 Work Schedule These hours may vary due to the needs of the Institute or College. Major Duties and Responsibilities - Consult with the Dean of the College of Health Sciences to promote the individual and collective needs of the program to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences of University of Bridgeport especially to address the budgetary, facilities maintenance, staffing and implementing approved plans. - Together with the Dean, review all public relations and marketing materials relative to the Nutrition Institute, set enrollment goals and cooperate with the Admission's office in achieving them. - Provide leadership for fund-raising in conjunction with the University Advancement Group and represent the Nutrition Institute at professional, public relations and fund raising events. - Contribute articles on the Nutrition Institute on professional matters to local or professional publications. - Foster research and scholarship in the respective academic programs in conjunction with the Office of Sponsored Research. - Facilitate inter-college/school/Institute collaborations for new program development and, when appropriate, program consolidation. - Disseminate any and all divisional policies, procedures and communications. - Facilitate communication and coordination of efforts, through meetings with the Dean on a regular schedule. - Upon the direction of the Dean of the College of Health Sciences, address any issue deemed appropriate and of importance to a program. - Coordinate any efforts wherein the Nutrition program of the Division are affected, as well as matters within individual programs, as the designee of the Dean. - Review reappointments, promotion and tenure portfolios of faculty in Nutrition Institute and recommend appropriate actions to the Dean. - Be available for other duties as determined by the Dean including but not limited to: Strategic Planning, Academic Program Review, Staff Evaluations and budget allocations. Knowledge-Skills-Abilities - Solid interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work on cross functional teams in both leadership and member roles; - Strong presentation, writing and research skills; - Proven ability to work in complex, collaborative environments; - Self-motivated and an independent thinker who can meet deadlines, deal with conflicting priorities and have very strong interpersonal skills; - Ability to solicit cooperation from persons and departments throughout the University; - Ability to work with ethnically, culturally, and socially diverse students, staff, faculty, and others; - High level of knowledge and skills in every aspect of budget management, fund raising, curriculum development, educational effectiveness assessment, program strategic planning, accreditation compliance, faculty and student issues, and enrollment management. Other Functions Required Level and/or Type of Education The successful candidate will have an earned Master's degree in Nutrition or a related field; an earned terminal degree is preferred. Required Years and Type of Experience Minimum of 3 years as a director/associate director in a college, university or equivalent institution.
