120 professionals, we are headquartered in Rochester, New York with
offices in Syracuse, Troy, and our newest office in Buffalo. We are
currently seeking a full-time Licensed Structural Engineer to work
in any of our four offices. This position would require regular
visits to the Rochester office to begin, if located at one of the
other offices, and is expected to be 100% in-office with
possibility of hybrid in the future. Job Description Our Structural
Engineers are responsible for designing and detailing building
structures and structural components and assembling project
documents suitable for bidding and construction. They may also
assist Senior Structural Engineers and the Structural Engineering
Manager with the mentoring and overseeing of our structural
designers (EITs) and/or structural technicians on individual
projects depending on size and complexity. Designs structural
elements and systems and produces corresponding drawings and
specifications. Evaluates potential schematic structural systems.
Coordinates the project with the Project Architect and other
engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical). Oversees the production
of assigned projects and completes the modeling and documentation;
delegate pieces of design and reviews work. Occasionally meets
directly with the client; perform field visits to observe progress.
Participates in the review of project schedules, construction costs
and project status Reviews shop drawings and submittals.
Occasionally performs field visits to observe progress of on-going
projects. 85% office setting, 15% active construction site visits
Job Requirements Possess a 4 or 5-year undergraduate degree or
Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Civil
Engineering Technology, along with 5 years of related experience in
structural design of buildings. Passed Principles and Practice of
Engineering (PE) exam with focus on structural engineering. A New
York State Engineering License or ability to apply for reciprocity
in New York State is preferred. An individual with their hours
completed and preparing for their PE may be considered Experience
with application of building codes and reference standards (IBC,
ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318, NDS). Has familiarity with engineering
of reinforced concrete, steel, masonry, and wood structural systems
along with various foundation systems. Individual must be
proficient with structural software including RAM and Enercalc,
Revit modeling software or similar, and Microsoft Excel. Has the
ability to organize basic information to support the production of
documents, such as to coordinate interrelated drawings and organize
and index a complex set of drawings. Has the ability to understand
and manipulate interrelated information (e.g. recognizing that
changing one drawing and/or material specification may change
others). Has the ability to work to a deadline. Has the ability to
manage multiple projects and resources simultaneously. Possess
excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess
excellent organizational skills. Has the ability to coordinate
information between disciplines. Individual will occasionally visit
active construction sites, and must be physically able to stand,
walk, climb ladders and scaffolding, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach
Base Salary Information: $99,216 - $120,995 The above salary ranges
represent a good faith range for incumbents of these positions.
