Position Overview The Director of Data and Assessment will lead the
Region in driving a culture of student achievement, high levels of
instructional excellence, and the use of academic data to
contribute to the development of a rigorous, aligned regional model
of instruction. Working with members of school leadership teams and
other members of the Regional Teaching and Learning team, the
Director of Data and Assessment will drive multiple teacher-focused
academic initiatives that will lead to a direct, positive impact on
teaching and learning. Duties and Responsibilities Data Collection
Train and support school-based staff in using data tools and
reports in a way that allows them to make effective data-driven
decisions. Support schools in the implementation of all
assessments. Collect results, gather evidence, and observe in
service of data collection to ensure leaders have an accurate
picture of student performance with which they can make
instructional decisions. Manage the test administration process for
all assessments to ensure that testing procedures are routine and
include smooth, efficient distribution, administration, and
collection of assessments. Collaborate with the Special Education
Support Staff to ensure that all mandated testing accommodations
are adhered to for students with disabilities. Print and assemble
relevant materials for testing events and data analysis meetings.
Oversee unit assessment tracking timelines to ensure all
assessments are created, administered, scored, and scanned
efficiently and allow for timely analysis. Data Infrastructure and
Tools Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop a regional
vision and supporting systems for data infrastructure and use of
data to drive remarkable results. Manage input and maintenance of a
variety of key data platforms. Produce accurate, reliable, and
high-quality academic data and reports. Create and maintain
dashboards and other regular reports that answer questions for key
stakeholders and provide insight into the student, school, and
regional performance. Create custom tools to support high-quality
data analysis and action planning from assessments. Serve as an
expert in national trends and best practices in the use of data to
inform instructional strategy. Data Reporting & Analysis Build and
maintain data reports and visualizations to display student
achievement results and key performance metrics. Support
school-based staff in using data tools and reports for continuous
improvement. Provide additional data reporting and analysis as
needed for external accountability, compliance, surveys, teacher
evaluation, or development tasks. Data Use Build and maintain data

development tasks. Facilitate the creation and refinement of
assessments aligned to state and national standards for all core
subjects in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Ensure
implementation and/or refinement of assessment structures across
the region and lead professional development and support of
teachers/leaders with effective data analysis. Analyze teacher
performance and student achievement data (both formative and
summative) to identify gaps in instructional design and make
necessary adjustments. KIPP Capital Region Perform other duties as

Complies with all charter, federal, state, and local laws and
regulations, including the NYS Department of Education, Department
of Health, and NYS Office of Children and Family Services. Adheres
to organization policies and procedures; promotes and supports
mission, vision, and values, including developing and participating
in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement
initiatives. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's
degree from an accredited college or university required. Master’s
degree in Statistics, Curriculum, Educational Administration,
Educational Leadership, or a related field is preferred. 8 years of
professional experience in education, including 2 years in a
leadership role with a focus on data and assessments, preferably in
a growing and dynamic multi-site organization with at least 500
employees. Track record of successful action planning based on
student data, leading to enhanced student outcomes. Experience
planning and implementing staff professional development,
consulting, and coaching. Broad knowledge of the assessment
programs such as the NYSTP, MAP, STEP, Regents Exams, AP Exams,
SAT, ACT, and iReady. Familiarity utilizing a broad range of
student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool), academic
assessment tools, and data housing (e.g., IReady, Illuminate) and
survey platforms and remote learning systems (e.g., Google
Classroom, curriculum platforms). Preferred experience working
directly with students, preferably required in the charter,
private, or public school environment. Prior experience working in
schools and urban communities is preferred but not required.
Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business
hours. Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment
that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and
perspectives. Physical Requirements The physical demands described

crawl; talk, hear. Dexterity requires writing and operating
standard office machines such as computers, printers, copiers, fax
machines, phones, and calculators. Ability to occasionally lift and

Capital Region offers a competitive salary ranging from $109,300 -
$120,800. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation
scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role
and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP Capital Region will
evaluate and determine the step/level a new hire will be placed
