The City of Bridgeport is seeking to fill the position of Deputy Director of Finance/Comptroller, reporting directly to the Director of Finance. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: preparation of the City's annual financial report and all bond issue statements; oversight of annual audit; preparation of, and compliance with, all federal, state, local, payroll and any other applicable reporting requirements; budget preparation and oversight; Comptroller's Office staff administration; capital asset accounting; and any other analyses and reconciliations as required. Applicants should have thorough knowledge of governmental/fund accounting theory and practices and the ability to interpret and apply GASB, FASB and AICPA principles. Extensive experience in governmental accounting systems and spreadsheet applications required. Requirements include Bachelors Degree in accounting, public administration or management, business administration or related field. CPA or CPFO designation or MBA in accounting or finance preferred. Six years of accounting experience required, of which four years is in governmental accounting. In addition, three years of supervisory experience in a municipal environment is desired.
